• Reacted to a LOT of messages. Over 2.6 billion emoji reactions were shared!

• Caught up with your crew more than ever. You opened your group chats over 11 billion times!

• Expanded your social circle. GroupMe profiles were viewed over 500 million times.

• Made it out of the group chat. Over 25 million people RSVP'd to GroupMe events!

While you were chatting, RSVPing, posting GIFs, reacting to messages, DMing, and sharing your heart out, we were building GroupMe forward. Here’s what we brought to life this year, all based on your feedback and ideas:

Message Editing and New Emoji Reactions: We heard you loud and clear! Now, you can edit messages and use dislike reactions or custom emoji reactions, making chats more expressive and personal. 

Event Groups: GroupMe Events saw a transformation, pairing every event with a dedicated group chat. From birthdays and youth sports games to watch parties to alumni meetups, this update has redefined how communities plan and engage. 

Announcement Mode: Designed for better group communication, Announcement Mode allows leaders to create dedicated topics where only group leaders and admins can post, while still enabling all members to react and RSVP. 

Enhanced Sharing: You can now share groups and events directly on platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp, making it easier for you to get your people into the group chat. 

Link Previews: Spotify tracks, TikToks, and Reels now enrich your group chats with vibrant previews, while redesigned pinned messages ensure your key content always gets noticed. 

1-1 and Group Calling: Connect live with your group chat anytime, ring a friend directly with the tap of a button, or schedule a call with your group by toggling on "Video call" when you create an event - all powered by Microsoft Teams. 

Supercharged Group Admin: We added numerous features to make it even easier to manage and lead your group like member search, easier join requests, admin co-editing, clone events, quick admin promotion and more!

🌟 Stories That Inspire: How Our Community Made Magic This Year 

This year, we loved seeing how GroupMe brought new adventures and unique connections to life: 

GroupMe in India: This summer Symbiosis University in India launched GroupMe Campus and thousands of students are connecting with each other, sharing events, and making new friends. Mood Indigo, one of India’s largest music and cultural festivals, picked up on the movement and is using GroupMe for all communication with festival attendees. And 8 more colleges in Mumbai and Pune are launching GroupMe campus in January!

Campus Safe Rides: One of the most inspiring use cases we came across this year was from students at LSU who started a Campus Safe Rides GroupMe to help young women on campus have a direct chat line to get safe rides home.

Artist 💖 Fans: Artist Jonah Marais created a GroupMe to connect with his fans during his tour, bridging the gap between traditional social media and meaningful engagement. 

The Trip That Made It Out of the Group Chat: A group of friends used GroupMe to plan their trip to Tomorrowland in Belgium, proving how GroupMe is designed to turn group chats into real-life adventures.
